Day -1

Originally, we planned to stay 4 nights in Melbourne. However, due to a major Jetstar disruption, our booked flight was canceled. We had to return home with disappointed children, but thanks to my husband's persistent contact with support, we secured a flight for the next day.

Day 0: Airport and Flight

We arrived at Ho Chi Minh City airport after 6 PM for our 10 PM flight. Due to the rescheduling, we couldn't reserve seats, so we arrived earlier than usual to secure adjacent seats.
At Ho Chi Minh City airport, we could take our stroller to the boarding gate even with Jetstar. We let the kids play in the airport to use up their energy. They usually sleep around 8 PM, but we kept them awake to sleep on the plane.
We brought sandwiches and onigiri from home as Jetstar doesn't provide meals. The kids ate most of it before boarding. They fell asleep as soon as we boarded at 10 PM. It was easier without crying or moving around, but I couldn't sleep much as I was worried about my 1-year-old son falling off my lap.

Day 1: Arrival at the Airport, Important Notes

We arrived at Melbourne's Tullamarine Airport the next morning. My husband and children were in good spirits after sleeping well. Important note: If you checked in a stroller, it comes out from the "Oversized Baggage" belt, not with regular luggage!

From Airport to City

We took the SkyBus to the city, which took about 20 minutes to reach our accommodation near Southern Cross Station.

Flagstaff Gardens Playground

After settling in, we went to nearby Flagstaff Gardens. The park has a large playground with swings and climbing equipment. We ended up visiting this park 4 times during our 3-night stay.

Queen Victoria Market

For a late brunch, we went to Queen Victoria Market. We bought kebabs, quesadillas, and coffee. We also purchased fruits for the kids' snacks.

State Library Victoria

While the kids napped for about 3 hours, my husband and I explored the city, visiting the State Library Victoria and buying groceries at a local supermarket. The library has an excellent children's area with plenty of play space and picture books.

Grill Seafood Steak

For dinner, we went to Grill Seafood Steak to try Australian beef. It was delicious and reasonably priced! The beef was the best meal we had during our stay in Australia. We also tried kangaroo steak, which was tasty too.
We returned to our accommodation and went to bed early due to flight fatigue. I'll write about day 2 in another post soon.
