Family-Friendly Stay at Chatrium Residence Sathon Bangkok: A Comprehensive Review

Hello! I recently spent four nights in Bangkok with my 0-year-old and 2-year-old. This time, since we were traveling with children, I was looking for accommodations with a kitchen and washing machine rather than a standard hotel. Ideally, I also wanted a facility with a pool, park, and a baby area for my son to crawl around. That's how I stumbled upon Chatrium Residence Sathon. It seemed to have everything: a pool, a kids' room, a washing machine, and a kitchen. Plus, it was spacious and reasonably priced. Perfect!
So, we stayed at Chatrium Residence Sathon for four nights. In this post, I'll share my experience staying there, along with the pros and cons I observed.

Check-in

Upon arrival, we were greeted by a spacious entrance. Since check-in was still a while away, we left our luggage with them. We rested at the café on the ground floor, where my daughter happily colored with crayons provided by the hotel.

The room

Our room was a 140 sqm room on the 15th floor with a fantastic view. It had two bedrooms and two bathrooms each. The Wi-Fi was relatively fast, suitable for a workation. Upon request, they also provided a baby crib, which was really helpful.

The room came with comprehensive amenities, including Panpuri shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, and hand cream, which I was thrilled to use as much as I wanted.

The kitchen was fully equipped with dishes and cooking utensils. Since we chose a plan without breakfast, we made our own breakfast every morning.

If you opt for a plan with breakfast, you can enjoy a delicious buffet at the restaurant on the 4th floor. However, considering the hassle of dining at a restaurant with two small children, we preferred making our meals in the room.
Having a kitchen was particularly appreciated when the kids went to bed early, and we opted for local food delivery for dinner.
The room had a washing machine, but no detergent.
I recommend bringing some if you intend to wash your own clothes.
We also found compact sized detergents at a nearby convenience store, so you can buy it there if necessary.

We air-dried our laundry since there was no dryer (which was fine with me). For urgent needs, there's a coin laundry on the 4th floor with dryers available for a fee.

Kid's activities

The 4th floor housed a spacious pool, a kids' room, and a restaurant. The pool, winding and ideal for kids to play in, included a shallow area where my 9-month-old could stand, enhancing their playtime.

Next to the pool was the kids athletic area, beloved by my daughter for its slide and swings.

At the far end of the floor was the toddler section. Having a baby friendly area was a lifesaver for my crawling son.
That was an overview of the facility. Next, I'll introduce the Pros and Cons of staying at the residence.

Pros:

  • Kitchen allows for easy meal prep and snack making
  • Equipped with dishes, enabling dining on delivered meals
  • Washing machine availability means clean clothes and frequent pool visits
  • Free water
  • Kids' spaces keep children entertained, including a crawling area
  • Shaded pool area minimizes sunburn risk
  • Convenience store (Seven Eleven) within a 1-minute walk for immediate needs

Cons:

  • Far from BTS stations, requiring Grab or taxi rides
  • Grab and taxis can take time to catch
  • Central Bangkok's traffic can slow down car travels
  • Lack of shopping facilities within a walkable distance may not suit shopping enthusiasts

Overall

For us traveling with children, Chatrium Residence Sathon was the ideal lodging. The main downside was its distance from the station, but as we had a stroller and avoided metro stairs, we primarily planned for car travel, so this wasn't a significant issue for us.
Shopping-focused travelers or adults only might prefer a hotel with better access. I hope this post helps someone planning a Bangkok trip.
